If you know me - you know I LOVE estate sales. I woke up extra early in order to be first in line for these babies. I love a good lamp and this is about as good as I could possibly hope to find… and it’s a set of 2! I wasn’t sure about the lamp shade from the photos but when I saw them in person I kind of fell in love - the grasscloth is classic - don’t you think?! Day 6 pt 1 - European Road Trip — Basel, Switzerland 🇨🇭 - this portion of our trip was truly a happy accident. Initially we were planning to hop between Munich and Liechtenstein/ and the far northeast corner of Switzerland with a possible long drive a few days later to Strasbourg, France. But after some thought and examination of the map we decided to prolong our time in Switzerland and leave directly from Switzerland for France.
It was a good idea and Basel became one of our favorite places to visit. The hotel (Märthof Basel) was one of the nicest places we’ve stayed and the staff were the most hospitable.
The city is easy to navigate and very clean. (Trust me other cities not so much)
Subsequently, we’ve spent the last 48 hours trying to figure out how to return to Basel someday.

Day 5 Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland 🇨🇭 this is a Romans 1:20 type of place - as magnificent as the mountains were - as extreme and the heights and peaceful as the valleys - as powerful as the waterfalls and as quiet as the trees - even more in every was is the Creator.

Day 5 was one for the books. Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland 🇨🇭 I didn’t know where to look - I didn’t know what words to use. I walked around with a lump in my throat most of the time for all of the emotions I felt as I considered just how spectacular God’s creation is. That and at one point I thought, if my dad were still a road-tripper he would have loved the view from Grütschalp.
We took the cable car to Grütschalp and sat on a bench almost totally alone for 30 minutes. I’d tucked away 1/2 of my very favorite chocolate bar (Joghurt- Ritter Sport) and we parceled out a few squares to eat. I wanted that flavor to melt into my mouth as I rested in these views. It was wonderful.
Oh and of course there was fondue involved.

We’re on the road today - heading toward Neuschwanstein Castle and I made David pull over so that I could snap this photo.
These yellow flowers are sprinkled across miles of bright green, lush fields. Upon a closer glance I realized - they are the most glorious looking dandelions.
I’ve always said dandelions are not a weed and therefore let them grow at will when we had our acre in Norman. I loved dandelion season (which is also in April for Oklahoma) because that was our bunnies most favorite treat - and they were free for the picking. It’s so fun to see that these German farmers agree with me - dandelions are quite dandy. 🌼

Today was extra special thanks to a bonus day trip to Hallstatt, Austria - these views are some of my favorites in all of the world. We first found this spot in Oct 2022 and fell in love. Munich is just a 2.5 hour drive from this beautiful place. Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Germany. Such a beautiful place. So many shops and restaurants and cafes — and just walking along the cobblestone streets is so enjoyable. If you haven’t traveled along the Romantic Road (partly in Bavaria), then add it to your bucket list.
