Tip of the Week!

Tip of the Week!

This week’s ‘Tip of the Week’ comes from my friend Laura. She and I share the same compulsion for glass jars and bottles. Because of that, ((not to mention how handy this idea is)) I just love her suggestion!

Use the jars to store leftovers, or a small collection of your more used kitchen spices, or even a baking set: flour, sugar, salt, powdered sugar, baking soda/powder etc. Save glass jars that have corresponding lids ((jelly jars, honey…even  certain candles)) or purchase canning jars in a variety of sizes. Did you know Ball makes sizes from 1 quart to ½ gallon? I am sure you can find even more sizes online.

In the above picture, Laura made  her own granola and stored it in a mason jar. She recommends using a wide mouth funnel to make filling the jars easier. I could have used a wide-mouth funnel today…

Another reason I love storing food and especially leftovers in mason jars: reheating is super easy. An added bonus: no plastic chemicals are leaching into your food while being stored & reheated…yay for that!!
