Bunnies, Severe Weather & My Garden

Bunnies, Severe Weather & My Garden

I do have a few recipes to share. But tonight, I am bursting to tell you about my Lion Lop bunnies and if I tell you about my Lion Lops, I have to tell you about the severe weather that has consumed half of their little precious lives AND if I tell you about the recent severe weather, I have to tell you about my garden. So — I will share a yummy, superbly perfect chocolate buttercream recipe tomorrowish.

When the forecast compels me to do this to my garden — believe me, trouble is “a brewin'”!

My poor tomato plants, you know… the ones I tended to from the time they were wee seedlings??

image

Well, the hail came and by “hail” I mean HAIL.

image

Just look at this angry sky?! Nothing good can come from that!

image

Well, nothing good did come from it — at least that is what my garden ((and roof and windows and gutters)) thinks.

What’s that you say?? You don’t recognize the vegetation in the above photo. Well, let me help you identify it. It is a tomato plant, that was bushy, full of yellow blooms & 3 feet tall 24 hours prior. BOO. Well, I am considering it an “aggressive” pruning session rather than what could be construed as utter annihilation.

Along with the hail – my little spot on the map received almost 11″ of rain in 5 days. Plants don’t like that either, me thinks.

In spite of all the crazy weather, the baby bunnies have been staying cozy with their momma & growing nicely!

The above photo was snapped on day 6. This when I first noted their whiskers & teeth ((eek!!)).

Now – on Day 9, they are becoming down right fluffy!! Still no open eyes, but according to “the Google” ((right Laura??)), their little eyes should be opening any day!

This evening, for the first time, I did notice them sniffing with their perfect tiny bunny noses!

image

Aren’t they just precious??

Bubba hopped up on his roof so he could get a better look at what I was doing to his babies. ((oh, I just love them!!))

Bubba and Lula are very attentive parents, always keeping a close eye on me while I mess with their treasured litter. And there you have it!! I would much rather talk about tennis ball sized baby bunnies than tennis ball sized hail any day!!

Oh – it is all I can do not to carry them around in my pocket all day. “Supposedly”, we are selling these lovies in 5 weeks. Hmmm.
