The BEST Party Dip

The BEST Party Dip

The BEST Party Dip! Who doesn’t need an easy and awesome dip recipe for your snack and graze boards? This recipe is hands down my favorite cheesy dip – and at first bite, you’ll fall in love with it too!

A twist on a classic!

This quick and delicious recipe is inspired by a vintage recipe from rock star (in the foodie world) Helen Corbitt’s 1957 cookbook. Helen Corbitt was the Director of Food Services for Neiman Marcus for 25 years and is well known for recipes like Poppy Seed Dressing and Chicken Salad and A-B-C Spread. Many of her recipes are still served even to this day in Neiman Marcus restaurants.

A-B-C Spread — Million Dollar Dip

In fact, this dip recipe is a twist on Mrs. Corbitt’s A-B-C Spread (also called Million Dollar Dip)! Her simple recipe included American cheese, mayonnaise, slivered almonds and bacon. But I’ve switched a few things and added a few others to make it my own. I have to say though,

the addition of slivered almonds is pure genius – thank you Helen Corbitt

– it’s definitely going to remain in my modified version.

All the EXTRAS!

For my recipe, I’m replacing American Cheese with an extra sharp cheddar and pepper jack. Also going into my bowl:

  • pickled jalapeño
  • sweet Italian sausage
  • grated parmesan
  • cream cheese
  • shallot
  • green onion
  • sea salt

Other add-ins could include blue cheese, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, diced cucumber and garden-fresh herbs.

Combine it all into one large mixing bowl, and in under 5-minutes you’ve got the BEST Dip ever.

The slivered almonds add a delicious nuttiness and crunch. And of course, the rest of the ingredients – the cheese, bacon and sausage are perfect partners! I also love the addition of heat from the pickled jalapeño – just enough to get noticed but not too much!

Well, now that you’ve got the BEST Dip recipe – it’s time to find a reason to make it!

The Best Dip

  • 1/2 c slivered almonds, toasted
  • 4 strips cooked crisp bacon, chopped into bits
  • 4 oz browned ground Italian sweet sausage
  • 1/2 – 1 T shallot, finely diced
  • 2 T pickled jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 T finely chopped green onion
  • 1 block cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 T mayo (I LOVE Duke’s brand!)
  • 4 oz grated pepper jack
  • 4 oz grated very sharp cheddar
  • 4 oz grated parmesan
  • 5 T cream – more for desired texture
  • 1/2 t sea salt

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.

Using a hand-mixer, mix all ingredients to completely combine (1-2 min), scraping sides to incorporate.

Serve immediately with your favorite chips and veggies or refrigerate up to overnight.
