Oven-Roasted Honey BBQ Chicken Wings
Oven-Roasted wings are easily one of the herd’s all-time favorite foods. I’ve made over a dozen different wing recipes over the years but their most requested is Honey BBQ Wings. I love making oven-roasted wings because they are so easy and even easier to clean up!
tips for easy clean-up :
The process for oven-roasted wings is simple. I always start off by lining a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spraying a compatibly sized baking rack with non-stick spray.
Once the roasting is complete, I just unwrap and discard the foil, give the baking rack a light scrub in warm sudsy water and BOOM — clean-up is complete.
ingredients :
These Honey BBQ wings contain a very short list of ingredients – I bet you can guess at least two…
- honey
- BBQ sauce (here in Oklahoma that means the Head Country brand – it’s the BEST)
- chopped cilantro
- finely chopped red onion
- sea salt
- black pepper
- baking powder
instructions :
Combine ingredients and allow 2½ pounds of chicken wings to marinate for 30 minutes up to overnight.
Place the wings (evenly spaced) on the non-stick spray-coated baking rack and set into the rimmed baking sheet.
Bake the wings at 425° for 30-40 minutes turning & basting halfway through. In the final 2 minutes, set the oven to broil in order to crisp the skin.
These Honey BBQ wings are off the charts in flavor! That first bite gave me a flashback to my days living near a California Pizza Kitchen ((my favorite menu item was BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad)). These wings nailed those beloved flavors thanks to the combo of sweet BBQ and cilantro + red onion!
Then there’s that extra step of broiling at the end of the roasting process that leaves just the right amount of crisp char. All the flavors you crave in BBQ wings and none of the mess!
